Chief Information Officer

Banking Network Suriname N.V. (BNETS) is the owner of the interbank network in Suriname, enabling cash withdrawals and electronic payments in stores. In addition, BNETS facilitates joint payment services for banks in Suriname.

The international dynamics in payment processing are high, which also impacts developments in Suriname. Banks, consumers, and merchants require modern, efficient, secure, and user-friendly payment products. Consequently, payment processing in Suriname is expected to change significantly in the coming years. BNETS is looking for a decisive and strategically strong Chief Information Officer (CIO) to help guide and lead these transformations.

RESPONSIBILITIES As CIO, you are responsible for the organization's overall IT infrastructure. In this key role, you will lead the entire IT organization and be responsible for the development, implementation, and security of the IT strategy. You will develop and implement strategic plans aimed at modernizing payment processing for Suriname. In addition, you will facilitate cooperation among banks in payment processing by, among other things, leading structured consultations and liaising with international payment service providers. Within the organization, you will work closely with the CEO and the Supervisory Board to realize the organization's vision and mission. Furthermore, you are a strong people manager who can inspire, motivate, connect, and energize others.

  • Developing and executing the strategic IT policy plan, annual plan, and budget.
  • Leading and coaching the IT team.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring interbank standards for ATM and POS payment processing.
  • Ensuring a secure, stable, and future-proof IT infrastructure.
  • Implementing and managing strategic IT projects and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Acting as a strategic advisor to the CEO and a sounding board within the executive team.
  • Responsible for the operational management of the interbank network.
  • Reporting to the Supervisory Board and shareholders on IT performance, financial achievements, and project progress.
  • Organizing consultations with representatives of external stakeholders, including payment processing end-users and (international) partners.
  • Cultivating a strong corporate culture and promoting an inspiring work environment.
  • Ensuring operational efficiency and the quality of service delivery.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree (HBO), preferably in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably as a CIO or in a similar position.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, or comparable IT governance frameworks.
  • Insight into and experience with IT infrastructure, network management, and cybersecurity.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and strong communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of payment processing (preferred) or an affinity for it, along with a willingness to deepen understanding in this field.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.
